Skitty's Bestiary. (The Mythical ABC's~)

A: Abaia. A huge, magical eel that protects the creatures in the waters as its own children, and will pummel anyone who tries to catch it with a large wave made by its tail.

B: Banshee. A ghostly woman with silver hair that is perpetually crying. They wear green, silver, or black cloaks and call forth who is to die next. They often spend the time until who is to die next in their homes, moaning, wailing and crying in the attics or cellars.

C: Centaur. A human torso and head on the top with the bottom half of a whole horse. Many Centaurs are careless, with the exception of Chiron, the wise trainer of warriors in Greek history.

D: Djinn. Demon-genies that are made of smokeless fire. They take the form of anything, animals, humans, etc, and cause havoc and wickedness wherever they go.

E: Erchitu. A were-ox. If one does serious faults, they may find themselves becoming a white ox on the nights of the full moon. Accompanied by two demons on their horns, they bellow at a doorstep, and if they do, that person will die within a year.

F: Fairy. Yes, many are familiar with fairy antics, but there are several kinds of fairies. Sprites are the smallest, often seen as just small balls of light, or fireflies. Pixies are a tad bit bigger, being able to fit in a human's hand. Fairies are human sized, sometimes a little smaller than average, and have magical gifts used for those who are kind and loving.

G: Gorgon. Snake-haired, snake-bodied women who love swampy or stone areas. They have long clawed hands and fangs, with snake-like eyes. Only one gorgon, the mighty Medusa, could turn people to stone, however, and was slain by Perseus in Greek history.

H: Harpy. Poisoned and poisonous women with the arms and claws of a bird. They are vicious, and can poison and rot things with a touch. Harpies can, however, be kind, but it is a rare sight, as they are often looked at as a pest or a plague.

I: Ifrit. These are fire elementals at their most powerful. They are living embodiments of flames and can control them. They can be either good or evil, and are unharmed by mortal weaponry.

J: Jackalope. A once proud creature, this horned rabbit would be sought after in forests all over the North American homestead. Now, this creature has been less hunted, and less heard of. The Jackalope is the fastest rabbit alive, and has two antelope horns poking from the top of its head.

K: Karkinos. The giant crab of Greek history, and also became the constellation Cancer, the crab. It was sent by Hera during the battle of Hercules and the Hydra, but Hercules had no trouble kicking the crab into the sky, where it rested as the constellation.

L: Lycanthrope. Name doesn't ring a bell? These are werewolves. During the time when the moon is full, cursed humans become werewolves, large, brutish creatures with a lust for blood. There are many ways to become a werewolf. Being cursed, being bitten by a werewolf, drinking water from a wolf's pawprint, and sleeping under the stars in a forest on a Friday night when the moon is full.

M: Minotaur. When Minos' wife was cursed to fall in love with the first thing she saw, and she gazed upon a bull, there became the demon-spawn with the head and tail of a bull and the body of a human. Sent instantly to a large, impossible Labyrinth, the Minotaur would roam and get human sacrifices to steady its rage.

N: Nixie. Female water spirits from Germanic history. The nixie were playful, shapeshifting water spirits that often took the form of other creatures to fool mortals. Nixies also took the form of half human, half fish mermaids.

O: Ogre. Ogres, male and female, are large, brutish monsters that cause war wherever they go. Characters throughout history were given Ogre traits or called Ogres in different versions of the tale. Oni, Japanese demons or Ogres cause natural disasters in the rural areas of Japan.

P: Pixiu. Not to be confused with Pixies, Pixius are large, winged lions who protect wealth and fortune, and protecting their masters from harm. They crave the smells of gold and silver and will often bring money to their masters in their mouths.

Q: Qilin. Also known as Kilin or Kirin. If the unicorn is the one horned protector of magic in Western Europe, then the Qilin is the one horned protector of magic in Eastern Asia. Qilins have one horn, usually looking like an elk horn or a tree branch, with a long dragon like body and the face of a deer. They have a long trailing mane along their spine and down to their tails.

R: Rainbow Crow. A large crow with the rainbow at the tips of its wings. It was given the gift of fire, but as it carried this gift on its back to the rest of the woods, the rainbow crow had become black, charred, and its voice became hoarse and crackled.

S: Satyr. Half goat, half human children of Pan. They are silly, laid-back and carefree beings who only want to celebrate what they have and what life will give them.

T: Thunderbird. A large eagle with the clouds and the storms at its wings, and blinks lightning. It is a majestic being that has sharp teeth within its beak and two great horns on its head. Clouds are pulled by its wings and thunder is made by the flapping.

U: Undine. Water elementals, or beings made of water. They could also be called Nymphs or Naiads, but Undine are beings who control the water at their fingertips and allow the currents and playful ripples and waves in the water's reach.

V: Vila. Spirits who control weather and storms. These female spirits dwell in the clouds and poke fun at mortals by summoning winds and storms along their adventures. However, although charming, they are wonderful warriors, as the earth will shake when they battle.

W: Will-O'-the-Wisp. Purple-blue fire spirits that lead travelers around the woods and swamps, often trying to confuse them. Avoiding them is hard, because of their alluring indigo light. Sometimes coming in the form of a flickering lantern in the air, the wisps recede when approached, leading travelers further and further off of their path.

X: Xing Tian. The headless giant. Losing a battle, he was beheaded, but even so he carried his weapons with pride, replacing his nipples with eyes and his naval with a mouth.

Y: Yelbeghen. The winged dragon, or sometimes Behemoth riding a 99 horned Ox. Either way, Yelbeghen is a titanic beast. The dragon is pure evil with no rhyme or reason. With multiple heads, this dragon is wise and proficient in magic and sorcery.

Z: Ziz. This gigantic beast from the Middle East blocks out the sun with a simple spread of its wings. Ziz is the king of birds, as Leviathan is to the fish, and just as gigantic. As it stood on land, its head rested in the clouds.

Hmm, impressive knowledge of mythical beings there. I'm so tempted to ask if the Minotaur knows David Bowie. XD
